Leadership Rewind

Every now and then, it’s helpful to re-visit ideas, concepts, and models associated with leadership development.  I’m not the only one to subscribe to the mantra that “Leadership is a journey, not a destination.”  John Donahoe, president of eBay, believes leadership “… is a marathon, not a sprint. It is a process, not an outcome.”

In other words, as leadership practitioners, we should never feel that “we’ve arrived,” that “we’ve made it” when it comes to growing as leaders.  This journey includes new experiences, learning and applying new ideas, and also circling back, from time-to-time, to concepts that were essential as we began traveling down the road of leadership.

It’s in that spirit, that I share with you two short videos that I created a few years ago.  One summarizes Bass’ model of transformational and transactional leadership and his concept of the “full-range of leadership.”  The second presents Joseph Rost’s seminal view of leadership.  Both of these authors had a significant influence on my early thinking regarding effective leadership.

So, I trust you will enjoy and take away some benefit from this Leadership Rewind by clicking on the links below.  As always, thank you for your support and encouragement.
